Across West Bengal

01/05/2020 West-Bengal, India

Ca. 10 years ago I travelled from Kolkata to the ancient kingdom of Sikkim in the Himalayas. After exploring Kolkata, the journey took me south to the interiors of the Sundarbans, the worlds largest mangrove swamp on the Ganges Delta. From there, we took a night train to Siliguri and visited wild rhinos and elephants in the Jaldapara National Reserve. The journey went on by Jeep to Darjeeling, the famous tea-producing town on the rim of the Himalayas. From Darjeeling on to Pelling, famous for its view on the Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain on Earth. A wonderful, strenuous, once-in-a-lifetime journey.

Sipping some garden-fresh, FTGFOP, after saying it out loud together: Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe. The small, strangest tea house ever, right beside a famous tea estate in Darjeeling.
